Introduction
This is an application that allows you to uninstall all applications on your Palm. Unlike the built-in Application Delete function from Palm, Uninstall Manager will remove all related files from your Palm cleanly, leaving no residual files. It takes up 109KB of RAM.

Testing Procedure
The testing was conducted on my Tungsten C. After installing, you can find the program icon in folder as shown.

When you launch the application, you will see the settings page with the following options: 1. Enabled - When this option is selected, Uninstall Manager will monitor applications for writing preferences and files under a different Creator ID. 2. Sandbox - This would allow new applications to be run in a sandbox i.e. the applications are not really installed in the Palm. (P.S. Sandbox is an advanced technology that many secure organisations would like on their systems. It prevents malicious ware from being installed and corrupting the entire systems.) 3. Work in Background - This allows Uninstall Manager to be called whenever you want to delete any applications, even via default built-in application launcher. 4. Manual/Auto - This allows you to specify whether you like to be prompted before new applications are run in the sandbox first.

The installed applications can be seen at the left column and the child files can be seen on the right. The properties of the child files can be seen in the panel just below it. The following shows the Address Book and the child files.

Even the
is considered as an application and all the child files can be seen. But don’t worry about accidentally deleting it because I tried and replied that this is a ROM application and I’m not able to delete it.

This menu will allow me to view my installed applications in the RAM as well as in my memory card.

Next I installed some photos via my application to my memory card and can view them as .PDB files. However, I can’t select a few of them to delete in one click.

Uninstall Manager has also a nice Help mode to assist you if you need help with the various options.

Next, I tried installing a new application, Button Switcher to my Tungsten. After HotSync, the screen is shown below asking me if I like to run the new application in a sandbox instead. I selected “Yes”.

Then you can see the application being run in a sandbox. Click “Return” to try out the application. If you don’t like it, simply click “Delete”. If you like the new application, simply click “Quit” and the application will be moved out of the sandbox into the PDA.

After installing a new application, the application can be found in the “Monitored Items” category. This means that Uninstall Manager will keep a record of what the new application does in your Palm.

Cost
US$14.95 from NorthGlide

Conclusion
As I’m using Palm OS 5 on my Tungsten C, there are many Palm programs that are not compatible with it, needing a soft reset. The Sandbox feature is useful for this as all programs can be run and simulated in the Sandbox first. It relieves you of the worry of installing an application that corrupts your PDA. This is really a useful and essential program to own. All Palm users should own one. Highly recommended.
