    Symbian Series 60 (Nokia Smartphones)

Is this the correct forum to pose?
    Anyone using the E61?

To start, anyone archives their SMSes?

Yeah, I archive my messages by saving the incoming and sent messages into respectively named folders. Haven't had the inclination to do anything more specific.

I think you can archive it using the Nokia PC Suite?

Can meh? I want to archive to either sd card or external. Problem is if you keep too many SMS in the inbox, performance gets slower and slower.

Your archive and my archive is different I don't keep SMS anymore.

To change SMS storage location, do Messaging->Options(left softkey)->Settings->Other. There's a 'Memory in use' option.

I'm not using the e61, but most s60v3 phones are similar.

Nokia PC Suite allows you to access the lot of SMSes and drag and drop them into a folder in your PC.

Memory in use specifies which SMS directory to use - either the phone's or the storage card's. I still create personal folders to archive my SMSes clear the main directory because when that fills, the phone slows significantly.

Yup, and the issue is that the if you out your SMSes the memory card, there's performance penalty too. Also I can't move SMS in my phone memory to a folder in the memory card. Will try out the drag to a folder on PC. Thanks

You are right, there is a performance hit using the memory card but the seat-of-pants feeling is that it's not by much. S60 3rd Ed is still relatively slow compared to Series 40 or SE's OS.

    iPhone, maybe?

I guess some keep for reference, others may keep them for a paper trail or record, depending on nature of the sms.

    Whatever reasons I guess.

and some smses have sentimental values. eg those sent by ur loved ones.
Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.

If you hit 3.5G speed, the '3G' icon will become '3.5G'.

I only found out because I saw that on my E90 while using the GPS.

    Hope that helps.
