interesting report on the sales of iphone for apple's earnings reports
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/23/te...y/23apple.html
if you take the total iphone sales, take away total number activated thro AT&T, you get total number sold to people who bought em specifically to wait for the soft/hardware unlock

Record Mac Sales Help Apple Earnings Climb 67% in Quarter
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 22 — Apple reported earnings on Monday that leapt ahead of analysts’ already optimistic expectations on record sales of its Macintosh computers.
The numbers showed that the company was slowly climbing back into the league of the dominant personal computer makers, Hewlett-Packard and Dell.
Apple reported fourth-quarter profit of $904 million, or $1.01 a share, up from $542 million, or 62 cents, in the quarter a year ago, an increase of 67 percent. Analysts had predicted profit of 85 cents a share.
Sales rose to $6.22 billion, from $4.84 billion. Gross margin also surged, to 33.6 percent, from 29.2 percent a year ago.
Apple said it sold 2.16 million Macintosh computers worldwide in the quarter, an increase of 400,000 over the previous record. It does not break out domestic and foreign sales.
The market research firm Dataquest estimated last week that Apple sold 1.3 million computers in the United States, and IDC put the figure at 1.1 million. In the same period, Dell sold 5 million computers and H.P. sold 4.3 million in the United States, according to the IDC report.
Apple introduced a minor mystery during a conference call with analysts and reporters. In response to analysts’ questions, Timothy Cook, Apple’s chief operating officer, acknowledged that as many as 250,000 iPhones had been purchased but then not activated for service with AT&T, Apple’s exclusive wireless partner in the United States. This is important because Apple receives payments based on each iPhone subscription with AT&T.
....
for those who are having problems having incoming calls that dont match up with address book entries due to prefixes...
my address book contains entries with prefix 021 for international numbers so that i can quick dial using m1 budget call prefix.
however when the other party calls me, its coming with +60 for example and it just shows up as number.
here is the solution.

hi
anyone can help me unlock an iphone ?
it got accidentally locked..
TIA![]()
The option of not doing anything and remaining status quo is extraordinarily dangerous
Too bad Henry decided to move away from the iPhone. Thanks to his tip, I managed to figure out how to install NIV bible on my iPhone using iBrickr and read it using the Books app.
iPhone still has loads of shortcomings, but most of it resolved via workarounds or third party apps. Main beefs like deleting individual SMS, forwarding SMS have since been solved.
My only main complaints are no true Office apps and no cut and paste feature. Other than that, that 3.5 inch screen is still unbeatable by other PDA phones. I now have Nintendo games on my iPhone, but would you believe it, I don't even know how to play those games! Guess NES and Gameboy was after my time, and my children would probably figure them out easily
my uncle gave me a brand new iphone... any idea on how to go about starting? =.=
i'm totally clueless. don't even know how to insert the simcard. i watched some youtube videos but it looks damn scary.
my last resort is to just use it as an ipod touch. rofl. it's unlocked.. cuz he used it as a phone before. but i dont know how to check the firmware or whatever
